RODRIGO GONZALES

Rodrigo González

Director

Dancer, choreographer, producer and director of the non-profit organization Rising Art. Funder and director of the International Contemporary Dance Festival of Mexico City, ICDFMX. Director and funder of the Mexican Contemporary Dance Company. Producer of the National Folk Dance  Company of Mexico.

He has collaborated with the National Dance Company of Mexico, the National Opera Company of Mexico, Los Angeles Opera and the Independent Ballet of Mexico. He has participated in international productions with the Royal Ballet, Regio di Parma Theater, Scalla de Millán Ballet and Kirov Ballet Theater in their tours to Mexico. He has presented his work abroad in countries like Japan, Morocco, Uzbekistan and Argelia, officially representing Mexico commissioned by its embassies.

Rodrigo has created more than 40 pieces among which stand out: “La Muerte del Quetzal”, “Altar Monumental” y “El Encuentro”, premiered at the Palace of Fine Arts of Mexico City. “Bach’s St. Matthew Passion” at the fortress of the Chapultepec Castle, “Madame Butterfly” at The Theatre of Dance, Guillermina Bravo, as well as “Teleny”, “Voces”, “Carlota” and “Imperio” as a dramaturgist and scene director. It is also prominent his productions of the ballets “Sleeping Beauty” and “Romeo and Juliet” at the Chapultepec Castle as well as the plays “La Cena del Bicentenario” by Antón Araiza, “Homo melodramaticus” by Ignacio Flores de la Lama and “Historias de Familia” by Bijana Sbrajnovich. Winner of two “Lunas del Auditorio” (2017 y 2018) for the creation of ICDFMX.

Raúl Tamez

Director

Choreographer, dancer, lecturer and producer. director of the non-profit organization Rising Art. Funder and director of the International Contemporary Dance Festival of Mexico City, ICDFMX. In 2017 and 2018, Tamez received two ‘Lunas del Auditorio’, one of the most prestigious awards for performing arts in Mexico, recognizing the creation of ICDFMX. In 2016, due to his talent for choreography, he won the ‘National Dance Award of Mexico’. Tamez holds a bachelor’s degree in dance from Codarts in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and from The National Dance School of Mexico, a bachelor’s degree in sociology from The National Autonomous University of Mexico and an MA in Dance from the John Moores Liverpool University with the grant FINBA-CONACYT.

He has been dancing professionally for 14 years in different countries such as China, Lithuania, Latvia, Canada, Spain, The Netherlands and Mexico. He has danced for companies such as IT Dansa, Two Move Dance Company, Aura Dance Theater and chamber ballet of Riga. Through his career as a dancer he has had the opportunity to do repertoire by Nacho Duato, Alexander Eckman, Wayne Mc Gregor, Ohad Naharin, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Rafael Bonachela, and Jiry Kilian. In Mexico he has danced for CEPRODAC (The national contemporary dance company), Apoc Apoc Co., Tania Perez Salas Co., Alicia Sanchez Co., Oscar Ruvalcaba Co among others.

As a choreographer he has got  different grants and awards such as the audience award and the third place in the national performing arts creation contest. Tamez has created more than 15 pieces and has presented his work at the most important venues for perming arts in Mexico such as the Palace of fine arts of Mexico City and the Chapultepec Castle with the Ballet Rome and Juliet. He has toured in different countries such as Slovenia, Spain, Colombia, Cuba, The Netherlands and Sweden. He participated as a soloist dancer at the “Monterrey International Ballet Gala” sharing stage with ballet stars such as Elisa Carrillo, Angelo Greco and Marcelo Gomez. He directs the independent dance company “Palido Teatro and works for different universities as a lecturer, dance teacher and choreographer in Mexico including “Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana.

Raul Tamez

Alma Edith Fierro Guerrero

Operations Manager

Alma holds a Bachelor degree in communications from the Iberoamericana university Leon. Currently she is the senior manager of Rising Art NPO, where she has done the executive production of plays such as Imperio (2018-2020) and Carlota (2019-2020) both at the fortress of the Chapultepec Castle; as well as Teleny (2018) at the Gothic Chapel of Mexico.

She has been the operations manager of The International Contemporary Dance Festival of Mexico City in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. As well as the general manager of the Ballet Romeo and Juliet (2016-2019), “Bach’s St. Matthew Passion” (2018-2019) and the contemporary dance version of Madame Butterfly (2019.

Raúl Mendoza

Raúl Mendoza

Performing artist who alternates his profession with stage designing seeking the creation of new languages within the technical spectrum. His artist training was done in the companies: “Teatro Línea de Sombra (Mexico) and Teatr Cinema (Poland). He has collaborated in national and international performing arts companies both as a performer and technician among which stand out: AKHE group (Russia), Cie. Carabosse (France), Physical Momentum (Mexico), Apoc Apoc (Mexico), Musse Danza (Mexico) and Realizando Ideas (México).

Since 2009 he participates as a performer in “Amarillo”, being this his most representative collaboration in the company “Teatro Línea de Sombra”, piece with has allowed him to tour more than 20 countries and 70 cities around the world.  Since 2016 he teaches multimedia programming for performing arts in the venues of “Teatro línea de Sombra” and “Apoc Apoc” in Mexico.  Currently he is  the technical manager of Rising Art NPO, Mexico.
